Jamin Press was founded in 1998 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Our first book was Sentimental Music, a novel set in contemporary Florida as seen through the eyes of a philanderer who marries one of the richest women in the state. His attempts to juggle the various women in his life while at the same time gaining control of his wife's fortune serve as an often humorous but sadly ironic comment on the malaise of the baby-boomer generation that wants it all.

After a long hiatus, Jamin Press has recently published a second novel, also by Ben Walker, entitled Winds of the South. This is a more ambitious project by the author that deals with the moral dilemma of white Southerners in the 1830s when the institution of slavery was at its height. It tells the story of Zimri Rhodes, a Connecticut Yankee who arrives in Georgia as a young journalist, marries a Southern girl, and though opposed to slavery, finds that he is a slave owner thanks to his bride's dowry. When he travels to his birthplace sometime later, he encounters an alluring and mysterious woman who is both a Broadway actress and an ardent abolitionist. Thus begins Zimri's dilemma.

Clouds of red dust rose from the wheels, only to settle again on the four Negroes sitting shackled in iron on the wagon bed behind him. The dust adhered to the sweat of their bodies in the oppressive heat, giving them the appearance of rusted iron statues.
